about

Fireflower explores the deep roots of hatred and rage, which we all have the capacity for. It is, in part, a response to the disastrous border policies our government has been enacting, pulling children from their parents with no plan for reunification.

lyrics

Who planted you?
Who planted you here?

Were you carried on the wind,
fliers dropping from above,
landing silently embedding
in my heart while I sleep.

Poison seeps into my veins,
tendrills feeding on the fear.
It grows taller by the day,
hate reaching up for the sun.

Who planted you?
Who planted you here?

Open the canopy, let the sun in.
It's a battle of wills.
It's a figure of speech.
But you hate to be wrong and you long to be loathed.
And you bathe in the glow of your flame,
the flame, the flame, the fame, the fireflower!

Fireflower, you're strangling me!

Follow the stem down and pull it out by the root.

Who planted you?
Who planted you here?

Poison sucks up in my veins,
tendrills feeding on the fear.
It grows taller by the day,
hate reaching up to the sky.

If I let it, it will come,
sweet and warm, the liquid sun.
Closing tight around my lungs, my hands, my mouth.

Fireflower, you're strangling me!

Follow the stem down and pull it out by the root.
